Design Guidelines
A letterhead design is important to represent your company accurately during any correspondence. Whether you are a small or large company, your letterhead design should reflect your business professionally. Letters, memos, invoices, statements, and more are perceived as more professional when printed on a letterhead. Ensure that you print your letterheads in high quality as they will be sent to and seen by clients and key business stakeholders. Important inclusions are company name, logo, and contact details.
For the best results, use professional design software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator. Also, ensure that your closed artwork file respects all the items on the checklist for closing your artwork. If you are not comfortable with the respective design software, we recommend our professional design services. This element is crucial, as a poor design can, in fact, harm the overall perception of your brand.

Do you print envelopes?
Unfortunately we do not print envelopes yet. However, if this is a product you require, please let us know at support@printulu.co.za and we will add it to our product set in the future.
Can you design my business letterhead?
Yes. If you provide us with your logo, company name, description and contact details we can design the letterhead at an additional cost. Please allow for at least an extra 2 days in the production time while your company letterhead is being designed. You can email support@printulu.co.za with your design requirements.
Can I print multiple letterheads with some details changing for certain batches?
Yes! If you want to print your letterheads with variable details such as contact numbers or the names of your colleagues, then we can do so. This would have to be split into multiple orders and processed as multiple artworks, however, if you email support@printulu.co.za we can provide you with a special quote.
What is “bleed”?
Bleed is the area around your artwork that is trimmed off. This allows your design to look as if it was printed to the edge, even when the cutting alignment was slightly off. Your bleed should always extend to at least 3mm.
Product History
The origin of the letterhead can be traced back to 2 500 BC in Babylonia. The earliest version was a clay tablet with the title and seal of a priest and his family. The earliest version of the letterhead we know today is a private letter from Abraham Lincoln used during his re-election campaign.
Initially these letterheads were illustrations of the business's product, along with the business details. As printing improved, allowing people to use colour and more accurate representations of their product, the letterhead evolved into the professional documents we use today. Today the business letterhead is used to display the company’s professionalism in official communications.
