Product Description

Printed posters are the most common form of mass marketing. They can be displayed in high-traffic environments (streets, shopping centres, events, bars, cafés etc). They can also be given out as well-thought-out gifts. Create posters that are simple and similar to other advertising media. Be accurate and include only key information, such as unique selling points. Tell people how to reach you (website, telephone number, email, and address at the bare minimum). Make sure to reach your audience both on a typographical as well as visual level. Your poster’s design and layout needs to catch the viewer’s full attention. For the best results, use professional design software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator. Ensure that your saved artwork file adheres to all the guidelines on our print-ready artwork checklist. If you are uncomfortable with the respective design software, give our professional design services a try.

Paper: 100gsm paper is the most popular paper used for poster printing. This is due to its comparatively low cost without compromising on quality. It is the most commonly used paper for posters due to its classy and smooth touch. 170gsm paper is your best choice if you want to have high-quality and extra-strong posters. Essentially, the 170gsm paper is a good way to limit cost while maximizing the impression of your posters. 250gsm paper gives your posters a strong and premium touch and helps them to stand out in the crowd. The 250gsm paper proves more robust against folds and worn edges. 250gsm posters leave a lasting impression. 200gsm semi-gloss paper is suitable for digital and low volumes only.

Refinement: Lamination is the act of covering your posters with a thin plastic film. This protects them against water damage, scuffs, and worn edges. Lamination adds elegance and quality to your posters and enhances the brilliance of the colours. Please Note: Laminating is only available on grammages of 170gsm and higher.

Bleed is the area around your artwork that is trimmed off. This allows your design to look as if it was printed to the edge, even when the cutting alignment was slightly off. Your bleed should always extend to at least 3mm.

Posters are one of the earliest examples of mass communication and advertising. Early uses were for promoting political parties and candidates, military recruitment, product and service advertising, as well as spreading ideas and encouraging public debate. Printed posters have also had a timeless effect on design in how they influenced developments in typography. The limited space and the need to present information clearly, and from a distance, made them a great tool to influence and refine graphic design methods.
